Monday Me

I’ve got a bit of a confession to make. Despite being one of Topshop’s biggest fans (for all of my sins) I’ve never dabbled into their make-up range. It wasn’t that I had heard bad reviews, quite the opposite, I just think I kind of forgot about it. Either that or I’m so busy trying to pay before I spot something else I just *have* to have that I miss it. However, when I read reviews about their Gloss Inks I knew the time had come for my first purchase, and boy am I pleased.

There’s a lot of those products about which aim to provide a high colour stain pay-off and that look of gloss. They smell nice, not particularly sweet or fruity which is a perk. They are slightly sticky, but I don’t think that you can expect to get a long-staying gloss without a little bit of stickiness.

I opted for Sloe Gin (above), a deep pink and Cruel (top)  a deep burgundy red

I went out this weekend for an overdue catch up with my friend, and saw it as the perfect opportunity to wear one of my new favourites. I opted for Sloe Gin as I’d gone for a smoky eye.

Wednesday What

Most people have an everyday make-up look. I don't like to go too wild with mine at work because of two reasons; one it saves that precious 20 minutes extra in bed, and two it means on a weekend/time off I feel more special about my look.

Alas, here are the products which help me get from Monday-Friday without showing too many signs of exhaustion.

Browzings, Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer, Collection concealer,  Revlon Colourburst in Strawberry, Mac Coffee eyeliner, Mac Soft & Gentle Mineralise Skin Finish, Mac Studio Fix Fluid (NC37), Nars Laguna, Lancome Hypnose mascara, Nars Torrid blush, Rimmel Stay Matte powder. Real techniques core collection brushes.

I don't always choose to wear eyeliner, be it black or brown but on days when I'm feeling particularly tired (like today) I feel it helps to hide a multitude of sins. I know that Mac foundations have a really bad reputation in the beauty blogging/vlogging world but for me it doesn't dry out my skin and manages to give me enough coverage without looking at all cakey or over done. I'm always nervous about trying new foundations because in my opinion its the main thing that needs to be just right with make-up, everything else can be fixed but if your base isn't good the look is always going to be flawed. I find that NC37 manages to suit my skin when I'm a little more tanned in the summer too, but I have a slightly darker foundation powder that I use to help in these months.

On my eyes I usually go for a sweep of neutral eyeshadow just to give me a bit of a lift, but here to save even more time I've swiped Laguna and Soft & Gentle across my lids, and then lined with coffee both on the top and waterline.

I've just gone for a lipgloss that has a hint of coral to bring a bit of sunshine to my day despite there being a look of snow in the sky.

Saturday Splurge

I may or may not have spent a little this weekend... oops.

I went to Newcastle with my best friend and, of course, hit Topshop as our first stop to find a new outfit for the night. I opted for this, and yes - that is the same top I purchased last weekend in grey.. I think i may have a slight obsession with this style. I usually go for dresses on nights out and only own a handful of skirts but wanted to change up my look a little.

I also popped into Space NK, the heaven of all beauty stores. It is everything you want in a shop - all of your favourite brands under one roof, with a calming environment in which to peruse. This element however is what makes venturing into the store a little worrying for your bank balance. Unlike being at a busy MAC counter where you just want to get in and out, Space NK gives you the chance to look and love.

I needed another Nars Laguna bronzer - one of my make-up staples for a number of years for its ability to be free of orange/muddy tones - but also wanted to add another blusher to my collection. I bought Orgasm last summer and have used it countless times since, but because they are so highly pigmented you only needed the lightest of touches, and it still looks brand new. I opted for Torrid, a warm coral colour with the slightest touch of shimmer.

I've promised myself I wont be making any purchases next weekend when I go back to Newcastle...we shall see.
